Applying the Three Foot Rule means that you approach everyone and anyone that comes within 3 feet of you. Ouch! Think about those possibilities! You will soon be tagged with a scarlet letter if you use this old school tactic. People at the market will start to run the opposite direction when they see you shopping after a few weeks of the three foot rule.
And in most situations, its just rude to start talking about your business to people who you haven’t even introduced yourself to.
When you approach people who you meet through the course of your day chances are many of them are at work doing their job. Is their employer paying them to listen to your business opportunity? No.
That isn’t to say that there isn’t a time or a place for the Three Foot rule. Take for example if you are at a trade show. Certainly this would be an appropriate situation to implement this rule, but certainly not at the market, the kids school (how mortified will your kids be when they realize their school mates don’t invite them over because of mommy or daddy’s business. And I’d leave the three foot rule at the door when I go to the bank or just about anywhere else.
